Christianity 101

Do you know any rocket scientists? Or brain surgeons? Maybe you’re one of Europe’s top experts on hedgehog hibernation or the world authority on 13th century Italian architecture? Whatever expert you or the people around you might be, you had to start somewhere. And sometimes, it’s worth going back to the basics.

You can’t get a rocket to fly into space without fire and fuel. Now there’s a lot more to it than that – it is rocket science after all – but it’s a really good start. In fact, you won’t get very far to the moon if you deny these basic facts! These fundamental principles give engineers a solid platform for designing and building successful rockets.

What about theology? What about questions about good and evil, right and wrong, spirituality and what Christianity is all about? Again, it’s really worthwhile to go back to basics to make sure you’ve got the fundamentals right.

This month our church is exploring Christianity 101, setting aside everything we assume about religion and Christianity, and together exploring the essentials of Christian faith. A faith journey that leads to peace and contentment starts with these basic building blocks; Who is God? Who is Jesus? What is good and evil? And why do I sometimes hurt others? How do I know God loves the world? What should I do with my life? Where is this all heading?

Christianity 101 is a good place to start. You’ll discover God’s love for us by giving us Jesus as an example of how to live selfless lives of sacrifice for others, an offer of forgiveness for any past wrongdoing, and “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7). Come along any Sunday at 10am to find out more. We’ll also happily give you a free Bible to take away to help you start reading.

Useful passage to look up: Philippians ch4 v6-7
