Twenty-Twenty Vision

‘Twenty-twenty’ - perfect vision, but I doubt many of us saw what the year 2020 had in store! So many plans for the year suffered as COVID-19 put a stop to holidays, celebrations, exams, jobs and even just trips to the shops or the park. Suddenly, nothing was certain about the future and various sacrifices had to be made for the good of the nation.
One thing we could be sure of, though, was that winter would still turn into spring, then summer and now autumn. As most other things came to a halt, many of us had more time to notice nature in action as bare trees became full of blossom and leaves, then laden with fruit ready for harvest.
God promised Noah, way back in the first book of the Bible, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22, NKJV). The rainbow is God’s reminder to us of that promise.
If we know what we’re looking for, evidence of God can be seen in so many things around us, not just in nature but also working towards His plan for a better future, when His Kingdom will be set up on earth and pandemics will be a thing of the past. Jesus had a clear vision of that future and gave his life as the ultimate sacrifice for those who believe.
Just as we were confident that spring would follow winter, we can be confident that nothing will stop God’s plans.
