Finding answers to life’s BIG questions

If you’re anything like me, you’ll recall a time before computers, smartphones and tablets; a time where information wasn’t readily available in a split second. ‘Back in the day’ if you had a homework topic on the French Revolution and needed to know who Napoleon Bonaparte was, there was pretty much only one place to look – the Encyclopaedia Britannica. When it was last printed in 2010 it spanned 32 volumes, encompassing 32,640 pages of general knowledge and it ran for 244 years, first being produced in 1768! Pretty impressive.

Widespread internet access these days means that information is literally at our fingertips. Search engines and free online encyclopaedia’s like Wikipedia mean you can find out pretty much everything about anything and anyone, whether it be useful like news or health advice or slightly less useful content like the latest celebrity gossip or videos of dogs dancing and goats fainting!

The internet may seem an obvious place to find the answers to life, the universe and everything important (ignoring The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’s suggestion that the answer is simply ‘42’!). However, when looking for the answers to life’s big questions it’s easy to become overwhelmed with so much information available, trying to pick through what’s relevant and helpful in contrast to what should be simply be disregarded.

This month at Ashby Christadelphian Church we are looking at this issue of how to find answers to some of the big spiritual questions and challenges you might be facing – queries around how to start afresh, how to love like God, how to pray and how to live forever. These questions can’t just be answered by the Encyclopaedia Britannica or Wikipedia but require an established and more relevant information source – the Bible.  Come along and find out more or pick up a Bible and explore for yourself the amazing knowledge and wisdom it contains.
