Our History
The Ashby Christadelphian Church has been a part of the Ashby-de-la-Zouch community for well over 100 years, with a heritage rooted in the wider Christadelphian movement that started in the mid-19th century. We are a group of Bible-believing Christians who seek to follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, based solely on the message of the Bible.
The Christadelphian faith first took shape in the 1840s in both the United Kingdom and America. By the early 1900s, local Christadelphian congregations (known as “ecclesias”) had been established in many towns and cities across the UK, including the East Midlands. Ashby-de-la-Zouch became home for one of these churches / ecclesias.
The Ashby Christadelphian Church began with a small group of believers meeting in homes and rented halls, united by a shared desire to worship God, to understand the Bible more deeply, and to live by its message. In time, our church family grew and was able to establish a permanent meeting place on Union Passage, just off South Street, in 1908 where we still meet today.
Over the years our church has remained committed to its core mission: to share the hope of the Gospel, to encourage faith in the return of Jesus Christ, and to support individuals and families in their spiritual journey. With activities ranging from Bible classes and youth programs to community coffee mornings, the Ashby church strives to be a welcoming and active presence in the heart of Ashby.
